BRITAIN'S TRADE BID.
Big Exhibition of Industries
At Buenos Ayres.
IMPORTANT DISPLAY
(British Official Wireless.) (Received 10 a.m.)
RUGBY, August 6. The British Empire Trade Exhibition at Buenos Ayres, which the Prince of Wales is to visit,, will be opened on March 14 ancl remain open about six weeks. When the Prince was on his way home from South Africa he made a tour of Argentina and other South American States. Since then he has taken a keen interest in the development ,of trade relations with Latin-American countries and after his visit an Anglo-South American Association was formed, to further that object. Another step toward extending the British market in South America was taken by the appointment by the Board of Trade of an economic mission_ of industrialists, headed by Viscount D'Abernon, which recently visited Argentina and Brazil. British manufacturers are displaying keen interest in next year's exhibition at Buenos Ayres and the applications for space in the trade sections have necessitated the provision of more than double the covered space originally designed. The grounds and buildings where the exhibition is to be held cover more than 25 acres, but it will be difficult to accommodate all who wish to participate. Owing to the greatly increased importance now assumed by the exhibition the British Government has decided to treble the sum to be expended on its official participation in the exhibition. A considerable part of the impressive exhibits of the British Government now being shown at- the Antwerp Exhibition will be displayed at Buenos Ayres. The British Ambassador to Brazil has advised the Minister of the Interior that the visit of the Prince of Wales to Brazil is scheduled for April 4, next year.
