MOSLEM AND HINDU.

Within the past fortnight news has come from India of furious conflicts between Hindus and Moslems in such widely separated districts as Bengal, Sind and the Punjab. These ominous incidents may serve to remind us of the..irreconcilable hostility that separates the two, faiths in India, and they suggest once more the insuperable character of the obstacles that must be surmounted before theye can be n united nation, or even anything corresponding to true national feeling, throughout that vast country. Schemes for the unification of India and the ultimate concession of autonomy may look well on paper, but so far it is not possible, even in. theory, to suggest any way of reconciling in peace and amity the two great sections of its people separated by suchi inveterate and implacable antagonism.
