MANGANI VICTORIOUS. Radiac Beats Kapuna In Homeby.—Lawford Steeples To Sea Boy. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") RICCARTON, this day. The Christchurch Hunt Club's annual totalisator meeting opened in fine weather. As this event is a prelude to the Grand National meeting, there is a large attendance and more than ordinary interest is being taken in jumping and flat races. The. Riccarton track is in splend/d order. Kennels Hurdles.West Dome and Star Stranger 11. led over the first hurdles. Star Stranger 11. then took charge. West Dome made a bad jump at Cutts', dropping back to last. Star Stranger 11. was joined in the lead by Gold Mint at the mile post. West Dome gradually made up his (rround, and followed Gold Mint into the straight. West Dome led over the. last hurdle, and won easily by four lengths, with Gold Mint Just lasting long enough to beat Star Stranger -11. by a neck. Marco Polo was a good way back. . " -Every Competitor Falls. Peterette and Kulrange led to, the stand double, where Illuminator fell. Wairio and Peterette led over Cutts' fence, welkclear of Kulrange, who joined them again at the kennels double. Kulrange led over the sod wall, but fell at the brush at tlu- top of the straight, Peterette and Wairio following suit. Seaboy, who was a long way in the rear, also -fell at this fence. Seaboy was remounted first, and finished the courseby himself. WairiO and Kulrange were also remounted and ridden home at intervals. i A Waikato Victory.

In the Longbeacli Hurdles Gala Dayled over the first hurdle from Troilus, Oijiflamb.aud Craigmore. At Cutts' Gala Day and Oriflamb were together in the lead, but at the mile post Troilus ran to the front, with Gala Day, Oriflamb and Craigmore next. ; Mangani then moved up, and five furlongs from home was in second place. Mangani joined Troilus in the lead at the entrance to the straight, and they jumped the last hurdle together. Mangani beat his rival comfortably by a neck.. Mountain Guide, after being a long way back in the early stages, finished up well—four lengths behind the winners, beating Craigmore by a neck for third place.
