A baby sacred baboon, born on Monkey Hill at the Zoo, is a veritable "young hopeful." 'Of some 20 to 30 babies of the kind born there only one has been reared. But all these put iri*an appearance during the autumn with +-he winter before them. The newest comer has much brighter prospects. "Sandy," the father, despite his pacific attitude, is always at hand ready to defend his family. Later on, no doubt, he will see that his mate does not neglect the youngster. If a mother baboon puts her baby down and leaves it for a few minutes, the male drags her back and hands her the offspring.
