ASIATIC INFLUX.
GOVERNMENT'S INTENTIONS,
According to Mr. G. T. Parvin, secretary of the White New Zealand League, who has just returned from a visit to Wellington, where he interviewed the Prime Minister, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, the Government intends strictly to enforce the embargo on the immigration of Asiatics to the Dominion. The Prime Minister informed Mr. Parvin that the Customs authorities, with the assistance of the police, were actively engaged in rounding up those who had overstayed the period specified in their permit to visit New Zealand with a view to their deportation.
The Government, Mr. Forbes' said, was in entire sympathy with the league and its objective, and it was willing to assist in any way. The Government was also considering the question of some better means of identification of Asiatics.
