STREPHON BEATEN.

THIRD AT LINGFIELD.

FIRST RACE IN ENGLAND.

FAR FEOM HIS REST,

Cable messages to Australian papers, dated July 11, show that Streplion 11. made Ills first appearance on the English turf at Lingfield in the July Plate, one mile and a quarter. There were four runners and the Saltash colt could only run third after having held the lead for a mile. He was two lengths from the winner, who won by a short head. Streplion 11. is recorded as having been far from fit, and Mr. Sol Green said afterwards that his horse would run only once more in England this season, and would then be put away for the winter. The engagement that would be made for him would be a wcight-for-agc event, and he would not run in any more handicaps till 1931. London critics give him a good notice and think that lie will do a lot better when seasoned.
