As the Bank of New Zealand s sharp drop was yesterday's opening feature, so the close of the day provided a similar happening in the case of New Zealand Insurances, which changed hands at £2 6/, marking a decline of 1/3 since Saturday week. At the first call this morning £2 5/ was the best bid for the scrip, and there were no other offers in the insurance section. , Banks were still weak, with only minor changes in quotations. Nationals of New Zealand, which ,have just paid a final dividend, were asked for, with buyers at £5 15/. . . Coals and shipping were fairly active, with buyers of Taupiri at £16/ and or Huddart, Parker at £1 15/. . A buyer came forward for Bartholemew Timber, offering £11/ for the £1 shares. A sharp fall was registered in Colonial Sugars, which were offered at £36 10/, compared with the last local sale at £42 2/6 on the first of the month. The Noon Call. There was no improvement in the market tone at the noon call. Demand was restricted to standard lines, with buyers hesitant to make advances. Only one sale was concluded.
