WILL HONOUR CHITS.

RUGBY UNION'S DECISION. "HOT OFFICIALLY ISSUED. , ' FULL STATEMENT OF POSITION. The following statement was made this afternoon by Mr. 11. Frost, chairman of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby Union: — The first members of the queue arrived at Exchange Lane at 1.15 p.m. on Saturday, and about 20 were present at !l p.m. At midnight Mr. Watts arrived and admitted those then waiting into the corridors of the building. Previous to this a member of the queue had prepared numbered tickets, which ho distributed to each newcomer, to establish his place in the queue. At about 10 a.m. ou Sunday, after a tally had been taken, there were already members of the queue desirious of purchasing more tickets than there were available. Mr. Watts therefore stated that only those holding tickets could possibly obtain seals, and when this was explained to the others (hey left. The holders of the numbers were then informed that there was no necessity for ticket holders to wait further, but that these tickets would be redeemed on Monday morning, and a prominent notice iu 'this effect was displayed on the building. By this means all who had arrived early enough obtained tickets, while those who did not arrive early were saved a fruitless wait from Sunday monr.ng to 'Monday morning. Committee's Resolution. A further queue formed during Sunday. The position was explained by meV.ibers of the management committee u> the waiting queue on Sunday afternoon and by the special policemen posted on duly during the night. A special meeting , of the management committee of the union was held to-day, when a. resolution was passed approving the action of Mr. Watts in dealing with the situation, as being in the best interests of all concerned, it was also decided that all holders of the numbered slips should lodge the slips with the necessary cash with Mr. Waits before ."> p.m. on Wednesday, July Hi, when the required seats would be allotted, and the necessary tickets posted to the allottees. No Chits In Future. In reply to specific' questions, Mr. Frost said he could not say whether the .'.eceivers of chits in the queue on Saturday night were asked to produce the cash, but the chits that were issued would be takcii as authentic. On being plied with questions, he admitted that the chits were not officially issued by a representative of the union. A member of tin , queue, who had attended other test matches, took charge, and issued the chits, aiid the union were honouring them. Mi-. Frost said that a queue was now forming for the temporary stand. Asked ■if chits would be issued in the event of rain. .Mr. Frost and other members of the union were emphatic that nothing ol the sort would be done. One experience had been quite enough. As far as the Returned Soldiers' Association was concerned, Mr. Frost said that the association had been informed that no prefer-! ence would lie given to any association for the temporary stand seats. Everybody would have to take their chance. '.'Every crippled soldier who has applied to our office has received a chit," added Mr. Frost. Questioned if it was a free chit. Mr. Frost said if; was not. They had received a chit, but they would have to pay for their seats in the ordinary way.
