SHOCKED BY A WINK
BATHROOM POSTER BANNED. A "bathroom scene" poster was banned by the London Underground Railway because it was considered it might offend the susceptibilities of passengers. 'I he offending poster, issued by the Oarrick Theatre to advertise the play "Almost a Honeymoon," showed Miss Renee Kelly, the actress. entering a bathroom wrapped only in a towel, while a strange young man, who has entered her flat by mistake, after a convivial evening, lies in bed gazing at the unexpected spechicle. One Eye Open. He has one eye open and appears to be winking! It. was this wink that set the Underground authorities thinking about their feelings. This is what .in official of the company said about Hie winking young man i:i bed: "T think the half-ojwn eye, or wink, on the part of the ninn vvns one of the most repulsive rarts of the poster.' , Eenoe Kelly was astonished. '"Why, I think in the poster I have got much more nn than most people have in 'he daytime!" she said. "I am wrapped in about three layers of bath towels—a f'u'l--i7e bath sheet which covers me entirelV." , Over H*o clergymen saw the first matinee of the play, added Miss Kelly. , and they did not see anything with which to find fnult. As a result of the derision it was stated that hundreds of pounds' worth of printing will have to be -era pped.
