TOLD TO RETURN HOME.

VAGRANT IN POLICE COURT. SLEEPING ON RIVER BANK. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A vagrant, James Godden, who for a month has been sleeping on the river bank in a tent, with no furnishings except a damp mattress, and no food except a little oatmeal, came up for sentence in the Police Court to-day. After perusing the probation officer's report, the magistrate told accused that the proper place for him was his father's home. He would be placed on probation for twelve months, provided he returned home and promised to obey his father. He must also give up the pernicious practices to which the probation officer said he had become addicted. Accused, in a thin, weak voice, promised to do as the magistrate directed.
