BRIDGE ACROSS HARBOUR.
COMMITTEE STILL ACTIVE. PRIVATE ENTERPRISE PROPOSAL. Members of the Auckland Harbour Bridge Association's general committee met last evening, Mr. R. H. Greville presiding. . In reply to a request from the association that a copy of the plans should be furnished for the information of the association's engineers for consideration and criticism, the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. W. B. Taverner, advised that only one copy of the plans was in existence, and it could not be sent from Wellington until after the Bridge Commission's report had been presented to Parliament. The following committee was set up to obtain the necessary authority to enable the bridge to be erected by private enterprise and to enter into any arrangement with a company or corporation for the erection of the bridge on a toll basis:—Messrs. R. H. Greville, F. T. Eyre, W. H. Murray, F. E. Powell, C. H. Wills, J. B. Tonar and P. Billett. It was decided to organise ladies' committees in the various centres affected to advance the interests of the bridge.
