DOMAIN BOARD AFFAIRS. GOLF AND BADMINTON CLUBS. The chairman, Dr. Matheson, presided at the usual monthly meeting of the Helensville Domain ..Board. An invitation had ibeen extended to the British Rugby team to visit Helensville. and the Auckland Rugby Union replied stating that if the trip could possibly be arranged the invitation would gladly be accepted. A report was received from the caretaker that the dressing had ibeen done to the bowling greens. It is hoped that arrangements can be made to entertain visiting bowlers from Auckland during the coming season. Considerable improvements have been effected to the men' 3 .swimming bath, which has been repainted and sanded. A new pump is to be installed for the purpose of pumping water into the cooling tanks. Every effort is to be made to advertise the attractions of the Helensville hot springs and special efforts are to ibe made to entertain visitors during the next season. The board has written to the Commissioner of Boy Scouts for ifche Auckland Province, suggesting that the Domain would be an excellent place for a central ■rally, and in the event of a camp being installed commissions would be made to Scouts. A letter of appreciation was sent to Messrs. H. P. and A. I. McLeod foxsupplying gratis loads of manure for the Domain. A large number of friends, including visitors from Auckland, attended a social function to bid farewell to Mr. Jack Eddleston, of Helensville, who is leaving this month for England to join the Royal Air Force. Visitors were entertained' by Mr. and Mrs. Eddleston at "Springside." Badminton is proving a very popular winter pastime. At the last club evening of the Helensville Badminton Club, every available member attended, and the first round of the singles championship was played. The Helensville Golf Club has now removed its headquarters to Wharepapa, where new links have been laid out. Arrangements are being. made for an •official opening, after which club competitions and interclub return matches will be played. The Helensville Musical Society now has a membership of over forty, and all attended the practice on Tuesday evening. The male chorus has been increased, and the enthusiasm of members is shown in the fact that special extra practices are being held. The annual production is to take place early in September.
