WELLINGTON MEETING, FINAL DAY AT TRENTHAM. WINTER HURDLES AND JULY STEEPLES. GOOD FIELDS FOR SATURDAY'S SPORT. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. The Wellington Racing Club's winter meeting will terminate to-morrow. ■ The weather prospects at time of wiring are not too promising. Talavera Hurdles. Avro, who won yesterday, is sure to get solid backing to-morrow, and Wyeford and Make Up will also have plenty of friends. Mountain Guide, who won on the opening day, should also go well. Deluge has recent winning form to his credit and may trouble the top-weights. • Recent form points to WYEFORD AVRO MAKE UP. The Novice. Rosshire, top-weight in the Novice Handicap, finished on well to get second yesterday, and will get good support. Arisus got away badly in his previous start, but may do better to-morrow. Gowan Lea and Jayson are both speedy gallopers and must be given a winning chance. Acmil displayed useful form recently, and may cause a surprise. Joi de Val and Prince Desmond are also likely to show up in the running. When backers get to work they will probably select ARISUS ROSSHIRE GOWAN LEA. The Crofton. Twelve have been paid up for in the Crofton Handicap, with Brilliant Light heading the list and he -will have to be considered. Tahoma ran second to Town Major yesterday, and that form points to him being in the money. Malahat is a good sort and is likely to> improve. Mount Shannon won easily oyer eleven furlongs yesterday and will get plenty of support. The Sun has shown up in his previous starts and is.likely to do better. Banbridge, Snow Prince and Shortly also appeal. The favourite selections may be' TAHOMA THE SUN MAT, ATT AT. Winter Hurdles. Sixteen are engaged in this event, with Mister Gamp at the top of the handicap. He is a proved hurdler who . stays well and is sure to get strong sup- ' port." Nukumai will have to improve on past form to have any chance. Jest, winner of the Great Northern Hurdles, is likely to be the favourite pick and he- will be hard to beat. Aurora Borealis and Mangani are both in great form and will have friends. Of the rest Taumai, Omeo and Amorist appeal most. lhe favoured division will most likely 06 , KING'S JEST MISTER GAMP MANGANI. Winter Oats. _Bkck Duke heads N the list in the Winter Oats and i s sure to put up a good race. Mendip and Paddon have •both shown up during the meeting and will command plenty of support. Best •Friend won over a mile on the opening day, and should again run prominently, while Town Major, a double winner in hack company, should also perform well. High Pitch is a possibility over this distance, as also is Helium and i Prince of Orange. Among the lightweights Lynn Dhu, Rascal and Ranelagh ■look the most likely. Most support may come for PADDON, MENDIP, ' TABOO. July Steeples. Master Lu finished third in the Wellington Steeples and the shorter distance ' in this race —the July Steeples —will be in his favour. Radiate and Brigadier Bill will be a hard pair to beat, but Matu will have to ■ improve to have a winning chance. Airtight, Odin and Son o . Mine read best of those in the lower division. RADIATE, MASTER LU, BRIGADIER BILL. The Onslow. The field in the Onslow is not a big one, and Havering is top-weight. He ran a good second yesterday, and looks like being in the money again to-mor-row. Kiosk ran a fair race on the first day and may be improved as tb/> result. Hopwood is stated to have been unlucky yesterday, and is sure to run well again. Limosin and Marble King both showed up.over this distance and will have to be seriously considered. Prince of Orange and' Goblin Market also appeal. The public are likely to accord most support to HAVERING, HOPWOOD, LIMOSIN. The Concluding Event. The meeting will conclude with the Kia. Ora Handicap, in which several speedy hacks are engaged. Coon Song, a double winner at "the meeting, will get solid support and is likely to/be hard to dispose of. Blue Paper, a brilliant ' beginner, will be suited by the distance and is sure to get plenty of backing. Portray scored very easily yesterday and his prospects cannot be discarded.
