The meeting was abandoned after the ' running of the Cup (seven furlongs and 106 yards) which resulted: — THE McNAB, b c, 4yrs, by Abbots ; Trace—Sunny Moya (Lord Dewar) 1 , GRAND IDOL, b f, 4yrs, by Grand Parade—Flying Scud (Lord Glanely) 2 LION HEARTED, b c, 4yrs, by Sir Galahad—Guerricre (Mrs. J. Currutliers) ... r ; 3 Twenty-two started. Won by a length and a half. FATAL STORM. SEVERAL FATALITIES. (Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, June IS. The storm which caused the abandonment of Royal '• Ascot was general throughout the country. Lisrlitning caused damage in many places. The storm was severest in the London area, where houses and institutions were flooded, and electric train services interrupted. Manchester was deluged and two people were drowned in the Newmills district. Two men were" struck by lightning in the street, one being killed.
