INCOME TAX FRAUD.
Sydney Manufacturer Fined £6000. FALSE RETURNS SUBMITTED. (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. At the Central Court, fines and penalties totalling £6000, in default 12 months' imprisonment, were imposed upon James Yates, a glace kid manufacturer, for having knowingly made false statements in his income tax returns, the amount involved being £17,000. Six charges were laid against him, covering the returns for each year from 1924 to 1929. He pleaded guilty to each charge.
