AVONDALE BAND OF HOPE.

The Avondale Band of Hope, winch is interdenominational, and meets successively iu each of the Churches, on the ■third Monday of each month, opened the session in the Methodist Church, Brown Street, on Monday evening. Mr. Bruce M. T. Biesett presided over a Jlarge gathering of children, parents and friends, and during the evening presented Band of Hope certificates to new members, and also gave an address on the work of the Methodist Church in the Fiji Islands. An entertainment was given by the children and friends. The July meeting will be held in the Presbyterian Church.
