HASTINGS TRACK WORK. QUEEN'S CHOICE GOES FAST. WINLOCK'S USEFUL EFFORT. (By Telegraph.—Press HASTINGS, this day. There was an exceptionally heavy frost at Hastings this morning, and consequently the track wa3 effected earlv. A warm* sun later made the conditions icore pleasant. Whakaue and Shrewd were the first out, the former going once round on the roucrh in 1.47*. Shrewd went only until the~straight was reached, where he was eased up. The balance of the gallops were dona on the course proper, the trestlee being well in. Lordlike pleased over five furlongs, which he ran in 1.3-}, Keen taking 1.4. Brown Sugar and Barracouta covered six furlon?3 in 1.17*. Both finished well. Queen's Choice went nicely over half a mile in 49As. Bendower, Hileullua, Timi Poura and Heather Blend finished in that order over once round of the country. Wedding Bells and Purseful ran six furlongs in 1.17 a. The former pleased best. Winlock was too good for Golden Shadow over five furlongs, in 1-2s—an impressive gallop. ■ Sir Moment- and Kowhatu wereschooled over the bi# fences, but their efforts were not impressive. ' Ponjola did pace work, and promises to strip- a fit horse on Friday. Simba and Bernera ran four furlongs in 525.
