FALSE FIRE ALARMS.
Five false fire alarms, thought to have been given maliciously, were received by the city brigade yesterday between noon and 11 o'clock in the evening. Three,of the alarms were given in Grey Lynn, and two in suburbs westward of that district. In each case a street alarm box was used.
The first alarm was received shortly after noon from the corner of Great North Koad and Brown Street, Avondale, and the second from a box at the corner of Great North Koad and Crammer Road, Grey Lynn. At 8.30 came • another call to the corner of Old Mill Koad and Sherwood Avenue, then to the corner of Western Springs Road and Great North Koad, and a final fruitless journey was made to Fifth Avenue, i'oint Chevalier, shortly after 11 o'clock. Mi*. W. L. Wilson, superintendent of the brigade, stated that the series of calls indicated mischief-making by some irresponsible person.'Occasionally series of false alarms were received by the brigade.
