'VARSITY LIFE.
Tragedy Arouses Anxiety of
Parents.
DISCIPLINE TOO LAX?
LONDON, June 6,
The shooting of Dr. A. F. R. Woolaston and Detective Willis at Cambridge University by the student, D; M. Potts, who subsequently committed suicide, has led to considerable publicity concerning university life. Revelations about the amazing freedom of the undergraduate concerned are causing anxiety among parents and pertinent questions as to the conduct of the university are asked. The chief complaints made are that discipline is too lax, that there is no compulsion as to hours of study and no compulsory games; also that attendance at chapel for the most part has fallen into disuse. JURY'S VERDICT. (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, June 6. At the inquest on the three victims of the recent shooting affair at Cambridge University, the jury returned a verdict that D. M. Potts murdered Dr. A. F. R. Wollas'ton and Detective Wills, and then committed suicide during temporary insanity.
