HAMILTON RECEPTION.
BRILLIANT FUNCTION,
. The-reception to her Excellency Lady Bledisloo by the combined Avomen's societies of Hamilton was held at the Y.M.C.A. building last night. The large gymnasium was specially decorated and looked very, bright and cheery upon entering after contact with the • cold wintry weather outside. A corner of the room, was arranged like a drawing room, 'with rugs, cosy chairs and gailylmed cushions. Small tables were arranged with Iceland poppies and shaded chrysanthemums. The walls were tastefully arranged with decorations of feathery bamboo and graceful toitoi plumes, and on brackets were brass bowls containing' brilliant' chrysanthemums and scarlet berries. Supper was served in the lounge, where" the floor was carpeted, and the supper tables were adorned with bowls of red and old gold chrysanthemums. The Guiders formed a, guard of honour. On her Ex-' celleucy's arrival she was met by Dr. de la Mare and the combined women's societies' committee and conducted to the gymnasium hall. Dr. de la Maro mado a speech of welcome on behalf of the women present and expressed thepleasure it gave them to have her Excellency with them. Her Excellency, in a delightful speech, acknowledged the hearty welcome extended to her on her first visit to Hamilton. She was charmingly gowned in fuchsia lame over georgette, with silver fringe, and cream wrap, with deep fur collar. The members of the combined women's societies' committee were: Mesdames H. On Monday * afternoon the vice-regal party visited the Diocesan Girls.' School, River Road, Claudelands, when the Governori-General performed the opening 'ceremony- of "the new buildings. Upon arrival her Excellency was t presented >with a lovely bouquet of brown and scarlet flowers ,by Miss .B. Matthews.
