LOCAL BODIES.
NEW LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL
A meeting of th-j ew. Lynn Borough Council was held - last evening. The Deputy Mayor, Mr. Geo. Lawson, presided.
' Community Sunshine Club. —The club was given permission to make a collection in, the district on , May 30. Civic Survey.—Mr. E. v. Jjlake reported the completion of sivie survey. It was decided ,to hold a conference relating to the town planning of the borougn. « • . Level Crossing—A reply was received from the Railway Department in respect of the council's request tliat the x\ew Lynn station be maue a compulsory stop for all trains, 'or else •' that automatic, alarms be installed iit once. The council had expressed the view that the action it proposed was absolutely necessary to safety, in view of tlie poor lighting provided at the crossing, particularly-to .the overhead bridge at tlie iUatai Avenue end. The Department said it considered that the lighting provided was adecpiate. Hospital Xievy. —The council was advised that the district's hospital contribution for the year 1930-31 amounted to £957 18/, an increase of £80 on the previous year. Revaluing the Borough.—The council decided to make application to tlie Valuation Department for a revaluation of the borough, to take eli'ect from March 31, 1931. Seabrook Avenue.—The foreman submitted a report covering the reconditioning of this road, _ Avhich has been subject to heavy deviation traffic, owing to the formation work relative to concreting Titirangi Road. The work, estimated to cost £2521, was authorised, and application to the Main liignways Board ior a
subsidy will be made. Sanitation Servjcjs.—lt Avas.'. decided that the sanitation sendees at present conducted in tlie centre' oi' the be discontinued at the end of the present month, and that the persons concerned be notified that Avhere possible they must connect with the district seAver.
Traffic.—The inspector reported that the number of driving licenses issued during the past year Avas GOO. He Avas taking proceedings against the owner of a herd of cattle that Avas driven through the borough on the Great North Road last Sunday morning. Road Works. —The foreman reported on the completion of' the programme of Avorks set out in connection Avitli th» tarring of the main footpaths in the borough. Eavoured Avith fine Aveather, the operations had been most successful. In some instances facilities had been extended at the expense of property owners.
GLEN EDEN TOWN BOARD,
The fortnightly meeting of the Glen Eden Town Board Avas held last evening, Mr. W. E. Martin presiding.
But Time-table—A Avinter time-table of the Auckland Bus >Co. Avas submitted. The board suggested one change in the time-table, and also that the Prospect Road terminus be altered to Campbell Road. It Avas decided to request the bus company to reduce the fare from Glen Eden to Pitt Street by 3d per trip.
Tennis Club—The tennis club Avas granted the use of the hall for another series of three dances at a reduced rate.
Recreation Ground. —The board decided that a notification be sent to the secretary of the. Association Football Club that the board Avill not permit matches to be played on the recreation ground unless some payment is made for its use.
Stock Routes—The stock routes for the Glen Eden district Avere fixed as follows: West Coast Road (West End), Prospect Road, View Road, Valley Road, and Kaurilands Road. .•
