BENEFITS OF ELECTRICITY. SEDUCTION OF CHAKGES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKI, this day. The annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Electric Power Board was held in Opotiki yesterday. Mr. H. K. Hogg was reappointed chairman. Ho stated that the board had now completed its first full year and a satisfactory position was disclosed. The chairman referred to the great benefits of electricity ill the district, and hoped the board would be able to reduce the charges later on. The chairman's honorarium was fixed at £150, and it was decided to meet on the second Thursday in each month. The three Opotiki members were appointed as a finance committee, and the chairman was appointed to represent the board at a conference in connection with town planning, to be held at Taur'anga. The Hon. J. B. Gow, M.L.C., said the board appeared to be entitled to a reduction in the cost of electricity from the Government. The board had guaranteed £4000 annually, and was now paying £12,000 annually. It was resolved to ask for a reduction. Mr. -T. D. Dicker, the engineer, stated that he hoped to have all extensions completed before tlia beginning of August. It was decided to purchase sin additional truck to add to the board's transport facilities.
