SHORT SKIRTS BLAMED.
Cotton Manufacture Drops By 400,000,000 Yards. GREAT ENGLISH CAMPAIGN. (Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, May 1. The national cotton week is beginning on May 5 and is including efforts throughout Britain to improve- the Home cotton market. Ten thousand shop windows are exhibiting cotton" goods. The chairman of the campaign, Mr* Holroyd, blamed short skirts *nd the almost total disappearance of the petticoat for home sales being 400,000,000 yards less yearly than before the war.
