APRIL FLAX GRADIWGS.
Possibly as the result of unfavourable market conditions, gradiugs of flax at the Auckland stores last month showed a considerable decline as compared -with April, 1929. The quality, however, shows a substantial improvement, the bulk "of what has been received qualifying for the higher grades. Details of last month's receipts are as follows, the figures for April, 1929, being shown in parentheses:— Hemp': Fine, 119 bales (177); high, fair, 777 (495), low, fair, 361 (797); common, C 9 (204); rejects. 55 (31); totals. 1381 (1704)/ Tow: No. 1, — (57); No. 2, 338 (285); No. 3, 96 (197); condemned, 17 (29);-total, 451 (568). ■
