A FREE MEAL.
MAN AND WOMAN ARRESTED. HAD 10D BETWEEN THEM. After enjoying a free meal in a Queen Street restaurant last evening Kathleen Myra Henderson (45) and Edward Vincent Slader (36) were arrested and taken to the Police Station. This morning each appeared at the Police Court, charged with obtaining credit by fraud. The woman pleaded \not guilty and Slader guilty. Sub-Inspector Shanahan said the couple went into the restaurant and, after having a meal, they "dodged" out of the place and hid in a doorway. "They must have known when they went in. that they -had insufficient money. The man only had 8d and the woman 2d." Mr. F. K. Hunt: I suppose the man took the woman in. The magistrate convicted and ordered the pair to come up for sentence when called upon. "Don't let me see you two here again, or I will have to treat you as vagrants," he told them.
