G. W. Forbes, has had to change his itinerary on account of bad roads. It was intended to proceed to Kaitaia from Kohukohu through Broadwood and Herekino, but because of heavy rain_the roads were impassable. To the disappointment of settlers the party had to go to Kaitaia through Mangamuka Gorge and Victoria Talley. At Kaitaia the Minister inspected the whole of the Kaitaia swamp and drainage works. _ When passing through Kohukohu yesterday the Minister was interviewed y representatives of the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. R. E. Hornblow, chairman, asked that a ramp be provided at lvydale, across the river from Kohukohu, so as to enable motor cars to be ferried 2jCTOSO« — ~ i it Mr. Hornblow also suggested that tne road from Horeke to Ivydale be metalled.
