ARTS CLUB BALL.
' The 'culminating:- event, of the. season of big, spectacular dances is the; Chelsea :Arts :.eiub, ball, - which-;takes; place, as at the; Albert .Hall on; -New Year's Eve (writes pur Lon.don.cor-; respondent on December;lß). The;setting ; for the ; ball this :year is-to be designed: by Augu's'tus John, and:'its!"theme' is ; Noah's Ark. In front of the great organ; of the hall will be stretched a .back-, cloth 120 ft high by wide. This will be painted with archaic trees, apd/a, storm-cloud effect upon ■an expanse, of sky reaching to the ceiling. In;front fit this . there will be a 100 ft; long ark, resting upon a mountain. The students of the art schools will, of course, represent the 400 animals needed to complete the effect. These will be ot'all, sorts, of weird shapes and sizes, and will, file into the ark during, the .ball. Then the doors will be closed and electricallyproduced storm effects will follow): ram,: thunder,-lightning—and - then, a-rainbow.
