THREE MEN CHARGED. TWO NAMES SUPPRESSED. DEALER REMANDED ON BAIL. .A Three young men employed in music shops were charged at the Police Court to-day with helping themselves to instruments belonging to the " stock of a musio store. , Ashley Iveson Williams, aged 22, described as a music dealer, of Karangt*hape Road, who was arrested yesterday, was charged with . stealing two saxophones, worth £30 each, and with receiv* ing six ukuleles, of the total value of f 7 2/, The other two young men (whose names were ordered to be suppressed in the meantime) were only arrested this morning. One was charged with stealing a-ukulele and a dozen strings, valued at £1 17/, and the other with the theft of five ukuleles, valued at £6 5/, and £1 in money. On the application of Chief Detective Hammond, all three were remanded to appear on April 2. In Williams' case bail was allowed in one surety of £250, and himself in a surety of £250. Counsel for the two shop assistants said that they had been led into a trap. Both were decent young men, whose parents were most respectable people. He asked that their names should bo suppressed, at least until the facts were disclosed in com*t. In addition to allowing them bail, the magistrate, Mr. F. Ki. Hunt, made an order for suppression. Mr. W. J. Gatenby, who represented Williams, then asked that a similar order be made in his client's case. "It is merely a matter of accounts," said counsel. "Williams lias purchased good? from this firm in the ordinary way of business." "What business is he in?" inqiiired Mr. Hunt. .' , . T r "Williams has a music shop m Karangahape Road," said Chief Detective Hammond. "The two younger men have been stealing from their employers and Williams has been receiving. At present we are not sure how much is involved.
