OBITUARY.

MR; WILLIAM DOUGLAS. A well-known settler of' Kohekohe, Waiuku, Mr. William Douglas, died; on March 23, aged 80 years, at the residence of his son, Mr. John I. Douglas. He was born at Stair, Ayrshire, Scotland, and arrived in Auckland with his parents by the ship Annie Wilson in 1863. They lived at Mangere for some years; arid then Mr. W. Douglas bought .a farm at Kohekoh'e, where ho had resided ever since. He married the daughter of- the late Mr. John Irwin,' sen., of Awhitu. Mrs. Douglas died a. couple of years ago. Mr. Douglas had been an elder of. the Presbyterian Church for the past 40 years. There are five sons and three daughters; , . ♦ MR. ALEXANDER CRAWFORD.* * (By Telegraph.—OwA Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. . The death' occurred at Kamo of Mr. Alexander Crawford, aged 70 years. He was born in Sydney id 1860, the only son of Mr. Alexander Crawford, and came to New Zealand at the age of .13. In 1882 he took up farming at Utakura, being the first white settler in that district? Three years later he married Miss Jessie Nicholson, of Okaihaii, the eldest daughter of Mr. Angus Nicholson. In 1887 he entered business; in Dunedin and remained there five years before resuming farming at Gkaihau. • Some years later he went to Kauri, and in 1913 he removed to Kamo, where he continued farming until a few weeks before his death. He leaves a widow and a family- of three eons and one daughter, who are: Mr. Samuel Crawford, of Whangarei; Mr. Angus Crawford; of Te Puke; Mr. Frederick Crawford, of Matamata, and Miss Grace Crawford, a teacher at the Neleon Girls' College. Messrs. Samuel, and; Angus Crawford served in the Great War, and also a fourth son, Mr. Alexander Crawford, who was killed in action at Cambrai.
