BOWLING CHAMPIONS.

SECOND DAY'S PLAY. experience beats youth. CLARKE AND. BREMNER IN The annual howling tournament for the champion of champions was resumed on the Carlton greeu this morning, under perfect weather conditions, in the presence of a largo number of spectators, Six competitors survived from yesterday's play and were eligible for the sixth round this morning, ;.i. Chief interest centred in the meeting of the only two "two-lifers," Thomson (Rawhiti) and Bennett (Takapuna). Thomson led all the way and on the sixth head was 14 to 6. Although Bennett had reduced the lead to five points by the eleventh head, Thomson was playing most' ' consistently and had increased hie lead to seven points when there were only two heads to play. Bennett made a great attempt to achieve the virtually impossible, and burnt the next head with a splendid drive. Thomson got the ehot on the replay, and although Bennett played a good second his younger opponent pushed out his bcvwl and then blocked the drive. Bennett was wrecked on the block and this left Thomson the winner by three more points for 10 in all, The game between Bremner and McAlister went easily in favour of the former, who led all the way and reached 16 to 12 on the sixteenth head, after which McAlister did not score again. Clarke, the ex-Dominion champion, had a cloee run against the,. youthful Prangley, as the latter was five ,to one on the fourth head. .However Clarka was leading by one on the tenth, and ft four and a three gave him a very comfortable position. Prangley replied with a four and was 12 to Clarke's 19 on the sixteenth head. Prangley < won all the remaining five heads, making the game 19 all on the twenty-firßt. This necessitated a further bead and Clarke got two pojnts, having a bowl on each side of the jack. Prangley made one of the very few mistakes of the game and overran the head. The seventh round was notable for the pronounced victories for two Dominion champions over their youthful opponents. Bremner's chances against Bennett looked rather slender at first, «s he had only scored two points to Bennett's 11 by the eighth head. However, he then scored nine heads in succession, lifting hia total to 15. Even then he did not seem to have recovered his dme, as he let Bennett score three by missing two drives on the eighteenth head. He was more successful on the nineteenth and drove out both Bennett's counters to get the shot. This made him two up, and careful drawing on the twentieth head gave him three counters all in a row, Bennett therefore could not drive and he overran the head while attempt' ing to save. This left Bremner five up and the last head was not played.

Clarke made no race of it against Thomson and led all the way, Thomson heing unsuccessful in most of hie drives, Seven heads in succession gave Clarice such a substantial lead that the last three heads were not played. ■ Scores:— - " Sixth Round,—Thomson (Rawhiti) 27, v. Bennett (Takapuna) 17; Clarke (Carlton) 21, v. Prangley (Mangere) 19; Bremner (Woet End) 21, V. MoAlidtor (Helonsville) 12, Prangley and McAlister were eliminated in this round. Seventh Round: Clarke 24, v, Thoniflon 0; Bremner 19, v. Bennett 14, This round eliminated Bennett and the automatic draw givca Clarke the bye in the eighteenth round, which is the semifinal, leaving Bremner to meet Thomson. Seml.flnal.--W. B. Bremner 18, defeated Nell Thomson 13, on the twentieth head. Hurry Clarke (Carlton), who had the bye, now meets Bremner Jn the final,
