CROWD SEE SHOP RAID.
BANDITS LEAVE JEWELB. SCARED AT WORK. While members of - the staff and several customers were in a jeweller's shop in High Street, Haxlesden, some weeks ago, motor bandits made a daring, bui fruitless smash-and-grab raid. A brown car drove slowly up to the premises of Messrs. L. H. Nash. Suddenly a man leapt from the car, which had been stolen earlier in the day, hurled a stone through the shop window, and snatched at some valuables. The raid was performed with lightning speed in the presence of dozens of people in the street. As those in the shop heard the crash they rushed into the street, only to see the" bandits drive away at a furious pace towards Wembley. The hole made by the stone was small, and the "grabber," unable to extract any jewellery, jumped back into the car before he could be caught. The manager of the shop states that he secured the number of the car. The parcel which was thrown through the window was found to contain a brick. On the brown paper was a label, ."With Care."
