HOCKEY.

MOUNT EDEN CLUB. The annual general meeting of . the club, held in the Grafton Library, was -well attended, over 30 members being present. Before proceeding with the business, a motion of sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Highfield on the sad loss of their son Ken was carried in silence, all prsent standing as a tribute of respect. The annual report showed that the club had a most successful season all round. The senior team was well up in the championship and carried off the Devonport Shield with an undefeated record, whilst the fifth grade again won their .grade and the championship with an undefeated record, having scored 84 goals and having onlv five goals scored against them. The second and fifth grades won the seven-a-side tournaments on June 3, the seniors being runners-up, and the club winning the Harvard Cup. n Last season's officers were re-elected and a number of new members were elected. During the evening a presentation was made to T. Kelly who, with his wife, is leaving for Ireland on the 28th inst. Having been connected with the club for the past six years, and having captained the senior team for the past three years, an engraved gold pencil and an autograph book containing the signatures of the club players, was handed to Mr. J\elly, whilst to Mrs. Kelly a present of a case of serviette rings of inlaid New Zealand woods, was made. Mr. Kelly suitably responded.
