STEER-RIDING.
S.P.C.A.'S PROTEST,
With regard to a special report on the steer s riding competition held at the recent A. and P. Show in Auckland, the veterinary surgeons of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals,
informed their executive committee at the monthly meeting that the sport caused such distress to the beasts as to amount to cuelty. A resolution was passed: "That an emphatic protest be sent to the Agricultural anil Pastoral Association, couplcd with an earnest request that in future the steer-riding be eliminated from the association's programme."
