TRIPLE MURDER CASE. Jealousy and Greed Alleged Against a Brother. LIVE WIRE KILLS THREE. United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 10 a.m.) VIENNA, March 18. ~ An alleged triple murder, of a sort said to be unprecedented in the history of crime, came before the Court at Kor.neuburg, eight miles north-west of Vienna. A young farmer, Franz Neuinayer, was accused of killing his brother and two cyclists, strangers to him, on August 3, 1029, by stretching across a road a wire, which he connected with an overhead power cable, capable of discharging a current of 20,000 volts into anyone •passing. The .case offered no clue until the police found that Neumayer was an expert electrician, and that he would also succeed to his brother's inheritance in case of his death. Neuinayer first denied his guilt, arid then confessed, and finally retracted his confession.
It is stated that Franz Neumayer was jealous of his elder step-brother Matthias, because the latter was entitled to a large share of patrimony and also a larger marriage gift. Matthias was I returning from a visit to his fiancee when he met his death. DOUBLE MURDER. Austrian Police-Sergeant Confesses. FINGERPRINT CLUE. (Received 12 noon.) BUDAPEST, March 18. The police had reached a dead-end in their investigations into the burgling of the Szalonta Post Office and the murder of the GO-year-old postmistress and her 74-year-old sister, till the receipt of an anonymous letter, suggesting the questioning of the police-sergeant in charge of- the case. His fingerprints tallied with those found in the office. He was then taxed with the crime and admitted his guilt. . f
