NEW GUINEA MINING.
CHARGES AGAINST MINISTERS. (Received 11 a.m.) CANBERRA, # this day. Cabinet discussed charges concerning the mining ordinances at New Guinea, made by Mr. S. Williams against Mr. Theodore, Federal Treasurer, and Mr. Beasley, Assistant Minister of Industries. Mr. Scullin states that the Ministers are blameless of allegedly dispossessing the miners on the New Guinea gold fields of their claims in favour of a large company.
The ordinances, based on the Australian mining laws and certain alterations covering New Guinea, conditions, were formulated by the late Government and ratified-by the present Cabinet.
