BELATED REVOLT.
Shansi Rising Delayed for Want of Ammunition. SUPPLY FROM ABROAD. (Received 10 a.m.) SHANGHAI, March 18. Official reports from Nanking indicate the revival of the Shansi revolt. It was earlier reported to be threatening the existence of the Nanking Government, but quickly subsided for no apparent reason. It- was, however, believed to have been due to Yen Hsi-shan and Feng Yuh-hsiang, the Allied rebels, not receiving the support expected from several neighbouring militarists. It is now reported that the real reason that the rebellion was delayed was the failure of the rebels', ammunition to arrive from abroad.
Opinion here is to the effect that the rebellion will be successful and that the Nanking Government will be ousted, but there is a noticeable calmness in financial circles. This fact does not support the above view.
