EARLY ELECTION.
FORECAST AT HOME. Labour May Make Appeal On Fight Against Food Taxes. PREPARATIONS ADVANCED. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, March 18. The "Daily Mail" says that preparations for an early general election are well advanced at the Labour party offices, where orders have been given for 30,000,000 envelopes. Plans are 1 being made for a fight against food taxes on which leaflets are being prepared. It is believed that Mr. Mac Donald intends to have an election early in the summer after the Budget debate. A period available for an election will be limited by the Imperial and Indian conferences in the autumn. The Liberals would prefer to await the report of the Speaker's conference on electoral reform, but the majority of the members of the House of Commons are of the opinion that the_ clash will come earlier.
