MILITARY TRAINING.
"Scouter's" letter is absurd. Apparently lias never done any compulsory training * or *' J] good many years, as the ; reference''to W peaked cap shows. It has not heen worn by men other than officers in the New Forces since 1914. As for "the tunic tW went twice round" Mm, I, as an ex-officer, can ijj positively say that any man coming on parade ,'J with any article of clothing wrong-sized wonll j be immediately warned to have it changed, a®. \j if appearing a second time with it would » j dealt with accordingly. As an artilleryman, ~ would like to point out that every man m® • have a thorough knowledge of the gun W® he may participate in a shoot, and this appjf ;-y to the infantryman with his rifle. To say tl» ■ "Scoutcr" went to Penrose aud N blazed aw»y ■ without any instruction is absolute rubra? • Apparently he would like our young men,,' stead of wearing the King's uniform, of?® every man should be proud, to j°i n * V' Scouts, and would have them playing instead of .learning the use of arms, hope he does not suggest the game of P 8?". chase next. There is not enough trailing the present time, and a little strict disaP will hurt no boy. 18-P jOlftHlßß# -
