STEER-RIDING AT SHOWS.
At the monthly meeting of my execute committee, our inspector presented a Bpeci,! report, dealing with the steer-riding comwti tion.held in connection with your show hon. veterinary surgeons to the society 4' - pressed the opinion that the whole.: stances connected with and surrounding thi'' steer-riding cause such distress to the animals ' as to amount to cruelty. There is also, as yM are doubtless aware, a considerable p U v;;, opinion definitely opposed to such exhibitions at shows. The following resolution was'piti'f by my committee: "That an .emphatic protest be sent to the A. and P. Association,' coupled ' with an urgent request that in future th steer-riding' be eliminated from the jjsoaa. ' : tion's programme."
