At the Sydney wool sales to-day the offerings totalled 8721 bales of wool, of which 8020 were sold publicly and 441 privately. The easier tendency reported at the opening auctions yesterday was accentuated and prices continued to rule in buyers' favour. Greasy Merino sold to 20% d. WHEAT CARGOES. (Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 17. Wheat cargoes, in sympathy with better North American advices and assisted by improved German demand, advanced 3d to 6d. The United Kingdom demand is quiet. Parcels are active at an advance of 6d to 9d. Futures:—London: MarchMay, 33/10 per quarter. Liverpool: March, 7/1% per cental; May, 7/4; July, net cash, 7/5%. BRADFORD QUIET. Wheat for delivery in March is quoted at Chicago at §1.04 per bushel. For May delivery the rate is $1.07%, for July !?1.05%, and for September $1.07%. TALLOW, WOOL, HEMP. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegiam. dated March 15. from the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London: — Tallow.—No auction this week. The market is quiet, but there is a little more demand for near parcels at fully late rates. Wool.—Bradford market quiet and waiting for the opening ot the London sales. Present quotations are: —G4 s warp, 23; averc.se 2/2; 56's, 1/7%; 50's. prepared, 1/5; 40's prepared. 1/2% to 1, 3. Hemp.—Manila: This week the market opened weak, but owing to a good demand, prices were firmer at the close. J grade March-May shipment sokl at £29 10/. Sisal: Market firm. Fair average qual'itv No. 1 March-May shipment-sold at £33 10',. and sood marks are quoted at £34. No. 2 quoted at 20/ less. New Zealand: Market dull. Nominal comparative closing values for March-May shipment are: Highpoints. £31 10'; common, £26: No. 1 t,6w, £20 10/; and No. 3, £17. A small parcel jOt fair was sold afloat at £27 10/, London.
