LONDON WOOL SALES.
HEALTHY, BRISK MARKET. BUT AT LOW RATES. LARGE ATTENDANCE. (Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, March IS. At the wool sales 9156 bales were offered, including 2614 New Zealand. Approximately 57C0 bales were sold. There was a healthy brisk market with more cludin" many second-hand lots, but there was a healthy brisk market wth moie confident tone and wider competition, and owners meeting the market. Consequently there were few withdrawals. There was a large attendance from a.l European centres. Fine Merinos suitable to the Continent were in good demand at about February closing rates. Yorkshire sorts were live per cent easier, and all erossbrcds ten per cent lower. New Zealand greasy crossbreds litico, brought llr, average o%d; Baekshaven, 10% d to Ovid. THE BANK'S REPORT. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London otfice, under date 18th ;nst.:— ■ Sales opened with moderate competition and a larga attendance oi buyers. Compared witn th 2 close of last series, prices are three farthings to a penny lower tor medium and coarse crossbreds. ri ne crossbred and Merino not represented at the opening ei'.le. GOOD COMPETITION. Messrs. Dalgety ; Co., Ltd., report having received the jUowing cablegram from their Loudon hsuae, dated 18th inst.: — Wool sales opened, good competition, large attendance. Poor selection Merinos, average selection crossbreds. As compared with closing rates of last series, Merino •> per ccnt to 7% per cent lower, nomim"".
