AMBULANCE FOR PUKEKOHE.

HOSPITAL BOARD'S ACTION.
Pukekohe is to have an ambulance station in the town.
The Auckland Hospital Board yesterday received a letter from, the DirectorGeneral of Hospitals offering for sale a second-hand ambulance, the property of the Wellington Hospital Board.
The chairman,, Mr. W. Wallace, was emphatic in. saying that the Auckland Board, did not want any second-hand ambulances. He had had it in mind for some time, however, to place an ambulance station at Pukekohe. The ambulance would fill a long-felt want in that and the surrounding districts. It would save at least an hour on the present trip to Auckland, as an ambulance had to be . sent out from the city. As much as two hours would be saved on the run from some of the surrounding districts.
"Pukekohe has been suffering under a grave disability in that direction," said Mr. G. T. Parvin, who represents Franklin on the Hospital Board. He hoped members would support the chairman's proposal when the matter came up in the estimates.
Subsequently when the draft of commitments for the ensuing year was submitted a sum of £750 placed'on the estimates, the chairman explaining that the Pukekohe ambulance would be run on similar lines to the one at Devonport. '
