Miss Bpnfield, of Johnsonville. who lias been on' a holiday in Auckland, left for Rotorua yesterday. * * "* * Mr. and Mrs. GifTord, of Sarsfield Street, Heme Bay, are leaving shortly on an extended tour of the East. S * * * Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Wright are leaving by the Ulimaroa on Friday on a tour of England and the Continent. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Colin Carr, of Brisbane, have returned to Auckland, where thev intend to take up their residence. * # * * Mrs. F. Mourin, of London, who arrived by the Tofua, intends touring the Dominion, and is at present at the Grand Hotel. * * * * Miss Dora Lisle left on Friday last for a visit to her sister in England. Before returning to New Zealand she hopes to do someVavel on the Continent. Mrs. Carr, of Brisbane, who has been* visiting her mother, Sirs. Seabrook, of Mount Albert, is returning to Australia by the Ulimaroa on Friday. SOCIAL GATHERINGS. \l> The monthly meeting of the Waiotahi Women's Institute was held last weekend in the Waiotahi Hall. Two visitors from Qpetiki, Mrs. C. Pipe and the Rev. D. Hird, were present. Mr. Hird addressed the members on the constitution and work of the League of Nations, and Mrs. Pipe then gave a demonstration of the curing of apples <by means of burning sulphur. One or two entries for the Auckland Federation's exhibits were handed in. * * * * A merry tea was served iu the Tudor Rooms this afternoon, when the Misses D. and J. Heather, of Remuera, entertained Miss T. St. Clair Whyte and some of her friends prior to her marriage this week-end. Scarlet flowers were used for the table. Miss D. Heather wore a pink floral georgette and picture hat; Miss Joan Heather was in a crepe de chine of green floral tones, -ballibuntal hat. Among those present were: Mrs. Seabrook, Mrs. Morton, Mrs. Brooke, Miss Marjorie Cerutty, Miss Edna Ball, Miss Sally Alderton, Miss Nance St. Clair Whyte, Miss Thelma St. •Clair Whyte, Miss Isob'el Reeves, Miss Molly Hunt, Misses Cuslila and Daphne Kainger.
At the Tudor tearooms yesterday afternoon, Mesdames Jack Brook and "I'hil Seabrook entertained a number of friends at tea in honour of the approaching marriage of Miss Tlielma St. Clair Whyte., The guest of honour was gowned in beige and rose georgette, and rose hat to tone. To receive the guests, Mrs. P. Seabrook wore pink French voile, and blue ballibuntal hat, and Mrs. J. Brook, floral georgette jumper suit and black Bangkok hat. Among those present were:—Mesdames J. C. Craig, N. C. Leighton, L. Marquet, J. Seabrook, Alleman, J. Cox, M. Morton, Bremner, and Misses X. St. Clair Whyte, C. Brook, D. Ealnger, C. Eainger, N. C4ooseman, J. Eeece, M. Cousins, S. Alderton, I. Heather, D. Heather, H. Seabrook, M. McKelvie.
