FARMERS' EXCURSIONS.

The Railway Department last year enabled 1000 farmers from the South to visit, with their wives, many places of scenic interest in the North Island and to study the farming methods adopted there. , , , North Island farmers have requested the Railway Department to arrange a return "excursion to the South, and, if sufficient support is forthcoming, the first trip will take place some time m May. Suggestions have been made to leave Auckland on May 13 for Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill and Queenstown, returning to Auckland on May 25. The Auckland provincial branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union is co-operating with the Department in the organisation of the tour. Details of the excursion, which win not be a general affair, will be fixed definitely when the extent of forthcoming support is determined. It is estimated that the trip will cost about £19.
