Bathurst, private and ■ military secretary to the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Mrs. Bathurst, and Sir John Hanham, one of his Excellency's aides-de-camp. Owing to unfavourable weather . being encountered, the Corinthic arrived in Auckland five days behind schedule, and thus little time has been left for Major Bathurst and Sir, John Hanhanx to finalise arrangements incidental to the

arrival at Wellington of Lord and Lady Bledisloe, who will reach New Zealand by the Rangitiki to-morrow.

Major Bathurst is Lord Bledisloe's younger brother,(while Sir John Hanham is the latterfs nephew. H<j retired from the Army in February, 1914, as Captain Bathurst, but rejoined on the outbreak of the Great War. Serving on the staff in England' and France tie rose to the rank ,of major. Upon his second retirement from military service ■ on the completion of the war, Major Bathurst went into the Colonial Office, where he was personal private secretary to the Under-Secretary, Mr. Edward Wood, now Lord Irwin, Viceroy of Indyi.
