APIA, March 13
For several days past marines and police have been active in returning by motor and launch more than 1000 Samoans to coastal villages in the islands of Upolo and Savaii. The -work has been completed and H.M.s. Dunedin will leave after nine o'clock to-day for Auckland.
It is reported that 25 marines will be left at Apia and will be stationed near Yaimoso, which is now practically deserted, except for women and children.
On Tuesday Chief Tuimalealiifano was charged with participating in the activities, encouraging the continuance and expressing approval of a seditious organisation, and was convicted and fined £3. Lance-Corporal District Officer Eicketts, of the Samoan Police Force, charged with manslaughter relative to the death of the Samoan Moila, who ■was wounded in an affray with the police on January 22 and Jied on January 27, will be brought before the Court on Wednesday next. The Moth 'plane, which was brought to Samoa by the Dunedin, was damaged ■while being" placed on the warship for the return voyage. One mechanic was injured when he "fell backwards, his head striking an iron stanchion ladder.
