TRANSACTIONS ON 'CHANGE.
A BUSY AFTERNOON. WITH QUIET MORNING.After the noon call yesterday brokers on the local Stock Exchange had quite a busy time, and a large number of sales were finalised before the offices closed. There were no marked alterations in value, though Bank of New Zealancls and Haywards Pictures both showed a further easing in the sales recorded. At this morning's call bidding was rather better than of late, but the only sale recorded was one' of New Zealand Nationals at £5 19/. Banks were all asked for at yesterday's rates, and Australasia buyers moved up to £12 3/.
Australian Glass, with" buyers at £2 1/6. and British Tobacco buyers £2 l/o, | both showed a slight appreciation. There | was some competition for Bycvofts, and | the buying price was moved up to £1 j 12/3. '£43 10/ was offered for Colonial Sugar. The Noon Call. The morning proceeded quietly, and only three sales were recorded at the noon call. Bidding was quieter, and there was little variation from the morning quotations. Interest Rates. The return to the investor on his outlay, based upon the latest dividends and in the case of loans .and debentures upon redemption at maturity, works out as follows for the latest sales:— PER.
