FLAX GROWING.
BAY OF PLENTY PROJECT. EXTENSIVE OPERATIONS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE PUKE, this day. The New Zealand Flax Fibre Company and its subsidiary companies are now in complete possession of the old freezing works buildings at Whakatane, which, in the near future, will be used for the manufacture of flax. In a short time men will be put in charge to carry out general repairs. On the whole the buildings are bers of the company, and visiting members of -its company have expressed entire satisfaction.. A plant for, research work is to be placed on the. nVcmfees in a short time. The headquarters : .of'the. research staff are at present at Petdne, but it is a transfer will shortly, be made to Whakatane Machinery for'the manufacture ot Sax 'products; will be placed n. reading for manufacturing purposes, when the flax will be ready, which is estimated to be in two -years' 'time'..
