POLO PONIES INJURED.

ESCAPED FROM RACECOITvSE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE AROHA, Thursday. Two valuable polo ponies belonging to Mr. Vere Chitty, captain of tlie unbeaten Matangi team at the Herriesville tournament, were seriously injured last night. The ponies escaped from the Herriesville racecourse, and after failing heavily on the bitumen road near Herriesville, were found early this morning on the road near Morrinsville. Their knees and shoulders "were badly cut. One of the injured ponies was very highly valued, and its loss may adversely affect Matangi to-morrow, in the final of the provincial championship with the Waimai team.
