MAIN LINE DERAILMENT.
ACCIDENT TO COAL TRAIN. BLOCKAGE AT TUAKAU. RELIEF GANG'S GOOD WORK. A main-line derailment occurred at Tuakau about 3 a.m. this morning, which caused considerable delay to traffic. This, however, did not affect the ordinary and Limited expresses from Wellington, as the damage caused had been cleared prior to their..arrival at the scene of the accident. A special train consisting of several wagons of coal consigned from Glen Afton Collieries to Auckland was passing through Tuakau station when two vehicles left the rails. The accident was caused through a browen hook lying across one set of lines, and the derailment blocked the main line and loop. A breakdown gang was. immediately dispatched to the scene on receipt of news of the accident by the train-running staff at Auckland, and by good work the debris was cleared in time to prevent delays to the fast passenger expresses, North and South.
